Bill Browder – CEO & Founder, Hermitage Capital Management
Bill Browder is the founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, which was the investment adviser to the largest foreign investment fund in Russia until 2005, when Bill was denied entry to the country and declared a “threat to national security” as a result of his battle against corporate corruption.

Following his expulsion, the Russian authorities raided his offices, seized Hermitage Fund’s investment companies and used them to steal $230 million of taxes that the companies had previously paid. When Browder’s lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, investigated the crime, he was arrested by the same officers he implicated, tortured for 358 days, and killed in custody at the age of 37 in November 2009.

Since then, Browder has spent the last 5 years fighting for justice for Mr. Magnitsky. The Russian government exonerated and even promoted some of the officials involved so Browder took the case to America, where his campaigning led to the US Congress adopting the ‘Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act’ in 2012, which imposed visa sanctions and asset freezes on those involved in the detention, ill-treatment and death of Sergei Magnitsky (as well as in other human rights abuses). This law was the first time the US sanctioned Russia in 35 years and became the model for all subsequent US sanctions against Russia. Browder is currently working to have similar legislation passed in Magnitsky’s name across the European Union.

General Sir John Nicholas Reynolds "Nick" Houghton GCB CBE ADC Gen - Constable of the Tower of London; Former Chief of Defense Staff, British Armed Forces
General Sir John Nicholas Reynolds General Sir John Nicholas Reynolds "Nick" Houghton GCB CBE ADC Gen and Constable of the Tower of London is the Chief of the Defence Staff of the British Armed Forces. He served as Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion, the Green Howards in Northern Ireland during The Troubles. After Regimental duty General Houghton commanded 39 Infantry Brigade in Belfast during the period which led to the Good Friday Agreement. He was the Director of Military Operations in the Ministry of Defence at the time of 9/11; at the outset of operations in Afghanistan; and during the foot and mouth crisis. Subsequently he was Chief of Staff of the ACE Rapid Reaction Corps from July 2002 to April 2004 and Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (Operations) from May 2004 to October 2005. More recently General Houghton was the Senior British Military Representative and Deputy Commanding General of the Multi-National Force-Iraq from October 2005 until March 2006. He became Chief of Joint Operations (CJO) in April 2006 at the time of the commitment of UK Forces to southern Afghanistan and, subsequently, during the extraction of UK forces from southern Iraq. He was appointed both OBE and CBE for his time in command in Northern Ireland and awarded the US Legion of Merit for his service in Iraq. He was appointed KCB for his time as CJO. General Houghton became Vice Chief of the Defence Staff in May 2009. In June 2015, General Houghton also received an honorary Panglima Gagah Angkatan Tentera (PGAT) award from the Deputy Minister for Defence of Malaysia. General Houghton graduated from St Peter's College, Oxford, having taken an in-Service Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern History.

Dr Karin von Hippel – Director General, Royal United Services Institute: RUSI
Dr Karin von Hippel is the first woman and non-Briton to hold the position of the Director-General of the Royal United Services Institute. Prior to joining RUSI, she served for nearly six years in the Bureau of Counterterrorism, and eventually as Chief of Staff to General John Allen, Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter-ISIL. Further to this, she has served as a director for the Post-Conflict Reconstruction Project in Washington DC and is a research fellow at King’s College London. She has also worked for the UN, the EU and has several publications to her name, on top of degrees from the LSE, University of Oxford and Yale.

Prof. Christopher Coker – Professor of War, London School of Economics and Political Sciences
Christopher Coker is Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Head of Department. He is also Adjunct Professor at the Norwegian Staff College. He was a NATO Fellow in 1981, and served two terms on the Council of the Royal United Services Institute. He is a serving member of the Washington Strategy Seminar; the Institute for Foreign Policy Analysis (Cambridge, Mass); the Black Sea University Foundation; the Moscow School of Politics and the IDEAS Advisory Board.

He is a member of the Academic Board of the Czech Diplomatic Academy. He was a Visiting Fellow of Goodenough College in 2003-4. He is a member of the Executive Council for the Belgrade University International Summer School for Democracy and also President of the Centre for Media and Communications of a Democratic Romania. He is a former editor of The Atlantic Quarterly and The European Security Analyst. He has written many books about war, as well as published a variety of articles on The Wall Street Journal, The Times, The Independent, The European, The Spectator, The Times Literary Supplement and The Literary Review.

He is a regular lecturer at the Royal College of Defence Studies (London); the NATO Defence College (Rome), the Centre for International Security (Geneva) and the National Institute for Defence Studies (Tokyo) He has spoken at other military institutes in Western Europe, North America, Australia and South-east Asia.

Raymond McKeeve Raymond McKeeve has extensive experience advising major private equity houses, sovereign wealth funds, and their investee companies as well as some of the leading alternative credit providers and lenders across all areas of corporate practice, including acquisitions, disposals, financings, and restructurings. Raymond's experience covers both the domestic U.K. and international markets including MENA and sub-Saharan Africa. Raymond is one of the earliest and youngest winners of The Lawyer "Hot 100 Award" and sat in a personal capacity on the MOD Defence Reform Unit chaired by Lord Levene. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Strategic and Security Institute at the University of Exeter.

Gary Coombe – Head of Europe, Procter & Gamble

Since joining P&G in 1986, Gary Coombe has been at the heart of the consumer goods industry, working on some of P&Gs most recognizable and successful brands including Pampers, Gillette and Ariel in the UK, Europe and the US.

Gary joined P&G in a graduate sales job in the UK. He then moved into marketing where he held a number of senior positions, including Marketing Director and General Manager for P&G’s two biggest brands—Pampers and Gillette. Then moving to the US, Gary was responsible for Global Innovation & New Business Development on P&G’s Air Care business. Following roles leading P&G’s Global Air Care and Home Care businesses, Gary was appointed President of Europe in 2014 where he is now responsible for one-third of P&G’s global workforce and a quarter of total company sales and profit.

James Sweeney – Managing Director, Chief Economist and Co-Head of Global Economics, Credit Suisse
James Sweeney is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse, based in New York. He is the Chief Economist in Fixed Income Research, part of the Global Markets division. In this role, he leads the US Economics team and co-heads the Global Strategy and Economics team. Mr.Sweeney joined Credit Suisse in 2000, having previously worked as a political speechwriter. He holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a BS magna cum laude from Florida State University. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Economic Club of New York, and is a John C. Whitehead Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association.

Stephen Jen - CEO and Co-CIO, Eurizon SLJ Capital
Stephen Jen is the CEO and Co-CIO of Eurizon SLJ Capital Ltd, formerly SLJ Macro Partners LLP. Previously, he worked as the Managing Director of Macroeconomics and Currencies at BlueGold Capital Management LLP from May 2009 to March 2011, in charge of managing the firm’s currency risks as well as its macro strategies. Mr. Jen was also the Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, and from October 1996 to April 2009, held various roles, including the Global Head of Currency Research.

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Jen had spent four years as an economist with the IMF, covering economies in Eastern Europe and Asia. Mr. Jen earned a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine (Summa Cum Laude).

Prof. Erik Berglöf – Director, London School of Economics and Political Sciences
As of 2015, Erik Berglöf is a professor at the London School of Economics, and Director of its Institute for Global Affairs, a new school for public policy which will also launch a research-based do tank focusing on emerging markets.

From 2006 to 2014, Mr. Berglöf served as Chief Economist and special adviser to the president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

He is a widely published and internationally respected specialist in the field of transition economics, as well as financial contracting, corporate governance, financial development and EU reform. As expert on policy-related issues in transition economies, he has regularly provided advice to national governments and international institutions including the IMF, the World Bank and OECD.

Prior to joining the EBRD in 2006, Mr. Berglöf was director of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics and a professor at the Stockholm School of Economics.

He was previously assistant professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and has held visiting positions at Harvard, Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was the founder and president of the Center for Economic and Financial Research in Moscow.

Currently, he is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. He serves on the boards of the European Corporate Governance Institute, the New Economic School in Moscow, the Institute for New Economic Thinking in New York. He is a trustee of the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation. In 2013, he was awarded the Leontief Medal for contributions to economic reform.

Christian Déséglise – Global Head of Central Bank, Sovereign Wealth and Public Pension Funds, HSBC
Christian Deseglise is the Global Head of Central Bank and Reserve Managers and Global co-Head of Sovereign Wealth and Public Funds coverage for HSBC. Prior to this, he held various positions within HSBC Global Asset Management, including Head of Sales for the Americas, Global Head of Emerging Markets and a member of the Executive Committee of HSBC Global Asset Management. In this role, Mr. Deseglise helped HSBC become one of the world’s largest managers of emerging markets assets. He also designed and spearheaded the launch of a series of innovative products, notably the first BRIC fund and the New Frontiers fund. Before joining HSBC, Christian held various positions at at Crédit Commercial de France (CCF) within the Emerging Markets department between 1990 and 2000 when CCF was eventually acquired by HSBC, at which point Mr. Deseglise moved to New York to head the Emerging Markets department of HSBC Securities.

During his time at CCF, he became responsible for the bank’s Emerging Markets activities and moved to the London office to set up a department dedicated to the origination, trading, sales and research of Emerging Markets debt.

Christian is also an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, teaching on Emerging Markets, and the co-founder and co-director of Columbia University’s BRIC-Lab, set up to study the rise of Emerging countries. Christian has taught at Sciences Po in Paris and at the Institute for High Studies for Development in Bogotá, Colombia. He has written a book “Le Défi des Pays Emergents: Une Chance pour la France”, which was published in France in April 2012. He has also written numerous articles on Emerging Markets. In 2003, Mr. Deseglise established Foundation Caring for Colombia, a not-for-profit organization that provides assistance to the victims of violence in Colombia.

Christian is a Graduate from Sciences Po in Paris and holds a Master’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies from La Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris. He also received a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University in New York.

Josh Spero – Editor, Financial Times; Co-Founder of theartdesk; Art Critic
Josh Spero is a commissioning editor at the Financial Times in the Special Reports department (as of 4 January 2016), having been editor of Spear’s magazine from 2010-15 and Tatler‘s art critic since 2012. He is also the author of Second-Hand Stories (Unbound, 2015), a book about his second-hand Classics books and the people who owned them before him.

Before the FT, he was at Spear’s and The Independent and has written for publications including The Guardian, The Times, the Sunday Times, The Economist and the New Statesman.

He was a co-founder of theartsdesk.com, Britain’s first critic-run arts review website.

He has appeared on BBC Radio 4, the BBC World Service, CNBC, LBC 97.3 and radio and TV stations around the world to talk about everything from finance to art.

Malcolm Willingale - Learning and Development, Clarksons
Dr Malcolm Willingale has worked in the shipping industry for over 35 years. Between 1990 and 2008 he held a number of senior management positions in the leading ship management and shipping services company, V.Ships, part of V.Group, including responsibility for setting up the group quality management system. Prior to joining V.Ships, Malcolm was Editor of Lloyd’s Shipping Economist and was employed by London-based shipbrokers Lambert Brothers and freight forwarders, Thomas Meadows.

He currently works as an independent consultant with Lloyd’s Register being one of his major clients where he is supporting the development of a group key accounts programme.

He is a member of the advisory Board of the Seafarers International Research Centre and has represented InterManager at the IMO.

Malcolm holds a PhD from the University of Southampton.

Tim Coombs - Managing Director, Aviation Economics
Tim Coombs has 15 years’ experience at Aviation Economics during which time he has project-led assignments for investment banks, airports, airlines, governments and private equity investors. Most recently Tim has advised clients on the airport privatisations taking place in Brazil and the establishment of a new airline in Eastern Europe.

An experienced Project Director, Tim has been involved in the business planning for two successful airline start-ups, Air Arabia and Spice Jet; and assignments for easyJet, Ryanair and Wizzair. He has led the traffic team on airport transaction projects across the world; is a regular speaker at aviation conferences; and a part-time lecturer on the Airline Economics module at City University, London.

Prior to joining Aviation Economics, Tim worked for Aer Lingus, reporting directly to the Chief Executive; and NatWest Markets initially in the top ranked equity research transport team and then in the Investment Banking division. He holds a BSc in Transport Economics and Political Studies from Aston University.

Nathalie Dompé - International Director of CSR, Dompé Pharmaceuticals
Aged twenty-nine years old and a graduate in economics from Bocconi University of Milan, since 2012 Nathalie Dompé has been head of Corporate Social Responsibility activities for the Dompé Group, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of innovative therapeutic solutions for rare and orphan diseases.

Before this, she had accrued a variety of enriching personal experience: after graduating, she flew to London to study acting technique at the Saint Martins School of Arts, followed by volunteer work in an orphanage in Uganda. Even during secondary school, Nathalie had already volunteered at the Institute for the Sight Impaired of Milan, and it is precisely this desire to work for others that led her to choose to cover Corporate Social Responsibility in the Group.

In Dompé, Nathalie has chosen to work on projects capable of communicating to people the values that the Group holds or that may improve the knowledge and the level of awareness about relevant topics. It is an ambitious objective but one she has achieved thanks to the use of effective, innovative tools to spread awareness and create a tangible exchange with public opinion, paying particularly close attention to the younger generation.

She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Philogen since 2016.

Penny Dash – Head of Healthcare and Senior Partner, McKinsey
Penny Dash is a senior partner in McKinsey’s London office. A medical doctor by training, she is a leader for our work with healthcare payors in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Penny has substantial expertise in redesigning healthcare services in order to improve life expectancy, ensure high-quality services and reduce cost. She has worked on many aspects of health system/payor strategy, in particular initiatives to redesign care across care pathways, restructure or reconfigure providers to drive improvements in quality and cost, ensure a well-trained and efficient workforce and use competition and information to drive improvements in care. Her primary focus is the redesign of healthcare systems to improve clinical outcomes and boost the cost efficiency of provider organizations.

Penny has worked with clients as diverse as local health systems, hospitals, start-up companies, and think tanks. Her recent work includes an independent review of a European city's healthcare system; quantifying the financial challenge facing a national health system; and working with local clinicians, managers and patients to reconfigure hospital services.

Penny was previously the head of strategy for the National Health Service in the UK, where she developed the 2000 NHS Plan, which is still used today as a guide for policy direction.

She serves as the vice-chairman of The King’s Fund and is a founder and director of the Cambridge Health Network. From 2004 to 2006 she served as a non-executive director of Monitor, the independent regulator of health foundation trusts in the UK.

Mr. Simon Sproule has been Director of Global Marketing Communications Aston Martin Ltd. since November 2014. He is responsible for global marketing and global communications for Aston Martin worldwide. Simon reports to Dr. Andrew Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin.

Prior to Aston Martin he served in senior executive positions for Tesla Motors in Palo Alto, CA and for Nissan Motor Company based at Nissan's global HQ in Japan. He first joined Nissan in their North America operations in June 2003 from Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover North America, where he served as their chief communications officer in North America. Between 2009 and 2011, Simon served as head of Global Communications for the Renault-Nissan Alliance, based in Paris.

Leslie Maasdorp – Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, New Development Bank
Leslie Maasdorp Mr. Leslie Maasdorp is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the New Development Bank. In this role he is responsible for the treasury, portfolio management, finance and accounting functions of the Bank.

Over the past 25 years he has occupied senior leadership roles in both private and public sectors. Most recently he served as a Managing Director and President of Bank of America Merrill Lynch for Southern Africa for a period of four years. Prior to that he served in a dual role as Vice Chairman of Barclays Capital and Absa Capital. In 2002 he was the first African to be appointed as International Advisor to Goldman Sachs International.

Before his 13 years as a global investment banker, he served in several senior leadership roles in the Government of South Africa. In 1994 after the transition to democracy, he was appointed as Special Advisor to the Minister of Labour and in 1999, in his role as Deputy Director General of the Department of Public Enterprises, he led the restructuring and privatization of state owned enterprises for the South African Government.

He is a former Chairman and CEO of Advtech, a leading provider of private education in South Africa. Leslie is a young global leader of the World Economic Forum. He holds a BA degree in Economics and Psychology from the University of the Western Cape and a Master of Science degree in Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, at the University of London

Guillermo Ortiz Martínez – Chairman BTG Pactual LatAm; former Secretary of Finance Minister of Mexico and Governor Central Bank of Mexico
Guillermo Ortiz Martínez is former Governor of Banco de México. Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and is currently Director of several international non-profit organizations such as the Bank for International Settlements. He holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University.

He joined the public service in 1971 and has been Mexico's ambassador to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). While at the IMF, he acted as executive director and represented seven countries, including Spain. Martínez served as Public Finance Minister of Mexico from December 1994 to December 1997. He served as Secretary of Finance and Public Credit in Mexico from 1994 to 1998. He served as Secretary of Communications and Transportation in the Mexican Federal Government. He served as Deputy Public Finance Minister of Mexico from 1988 to 1994. He served as Economist, Deputy Manager, and Manager of Department of Economic Research at Banco de México from 1977 to 1984. He entered public service with the federal government as an Economist at the Planning and Budgeting Ministry.

He serves as the Chairman of Grupo Financiero Banorte SAB de CV. Mr. Ortiz Martínez served as the Chairman of the Board of Bank for International Settlements from March 2009 to December 2009. He has been an Independent Director of Grupo Comercial Chedraui, S.A.B. DE C.V.; Vitro, S.A.B. de C.V., since 2010 and Weatherford International Ltd. since June 2010. He has been an Independent Director of Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste SA de CV since April 26, 2010. Mr. Ortiz Martínez serves as a Director at Nacional Financiera SNC Institucion de Banca de Desarrollo. He serves as a Director of MEXICHEM and ASUR.

He served as Executive Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 1984 to 1988. He served as Director of Banco Nacional de Comercio Exterior SNC. Formerly Chairman of Global Capital Markets at J.P. Morgan, Ian has worked on over 300 transactions in over 40 countries in a 30 year period. Ian’s capital markets experience includes transformational transactions for BHP Billiton, Xstrata, BT, SABMiller, Pakistan Telecom, Rio Tinto, Rosneft and HSBC.

He built J.P. Morgan’s natural resources business into the No. 1 franchise in the sector and is responsible for introducing to the London market – and growing into leading blue chip stocks – several of the major diversified mining companies (BHP Billiton, Xstrata). He remains best-known for his connections to the world's greatest mining deals and, to a lesser extent, oil and gas.

Alessandro Fiascaris Alessandro Fiascaris is a Managing Director in the Real Estate group and is based in London. Since joining Blackstone in 2004, Mr. Fiascaris has been involved in a variety of real estate acquisitions in Europe and Asia/Pacific. Mr. Fiascaris received a BA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and an MBA from Stanford.

Johan Eriksson - Executive Director of Real Estate Investment, The Abraaj Group
Johan Eriksson Johan Eriksson joined The Abraaj Group as a Director in the Real Estate Investment team.‎ Prior to joining The Abraaj Group, Mr Eriksson was a Partner in Queensgate Investments, a real estate private equity firm, focusing on a wide range of transactions from core real estate to opportunistic corporate transactions across geographies and asset classes. Before joining Queensgate Investments, Mr Eriksson was an Investment Manager at Benson Elliot Capital Management, a real estate private equity firm, focusing on property transactions and special situations trades across Europe. Mr Eriksson started his career with Merrill Lynch as part of the real estate investment banking team in London. He holds a M.Sc. in Business and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Managing Partner of Venn Partners and responsible for our Commercial Real Estate business. Paul spent over 20 years with Citigroup, heading Citi’s European Real Estate business before joining Venn Partners. Paul has a wealth of experience in loan origination, transaction structuring, advisory and loan distribution. Paul benefits from an extensive list of key relationships with sponsors and market participants, and has led a number of landmark transactions including the largest hotel deal in Europe.

Paul started his career with Citi in 1993 in Canada, before moving to Citi New York, and then to Citi in London in 2000. Paul is a member of the CFA Institute and holds a MBA from Schulich School of Business in Toronto, Canada.

Yolande leads the Savills World Research team. Her areas of focus are world cities, including London, the impact of private wealth in real estate, emerging trends in real estate markets, residential and commercial, urbanism and mixed use issues.

Having 28 years experience in property research, Yolande pioneered residential research and became one of the first specialists on the sector in the UK She set up Savills own residential research department in 1989 and inaugurated their indices of prime residential property prices as well as residential development land which is still the only one available of its types.

Subsequently, she has investigated the land economics of mixed use, design, layout and green space and developed research techniques on regeneration value uplift, and in ‘placemaking’ and urbanism. Yolande specialises in bringing to light new and under-researched sectors of real estate markets: serviced apartments and student housing being good examples.

Recently, in extending her research techniques to global markets, her remit has expanded to all types of cross-border real estate in both established and emerging markets. Her work now involves providing thought leadership and running a world research programme to provide sophisticated, market-oriented advice on all aspects of real estate, global wealth flows and market trends. She advises a wide variety of high level clients on strategic, development, investment and policy issues both in the UK and globally.

Yolande is an advisor to various academic, business and other groups. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Director of Design for Homes, a founding member of the Society of Property Researchers, an Academician with the Academy of Urbanism a residential council member of the Urban Land Institute and visiting Professor at the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London.. She produces regular reports and articles on UK residential and global cross-sector market trends and regularly appears in the international press, on television and radio.

Colin Hanna - Associate, Balderton Capital
Prior to joining Balderton Capital, Colin worked at SoundCloud in Berlin where he led Emerging Market Growth and worked as a Business Analyst. Prior to SoundCloud he was at ProSiebenSat.1 building out their media for equity business in Asia and investing for their Berlin-based E-commerce incubator. Colin began his career with three years at Goldman Sachs in New York where he worked on several Chinese internet IPOs, including Qunar (NASDAQ: QUNR), Vipshop (NASDAQ: VIPS) and Tarena (NASDAQ: TEDU).

Colin has a B.A. from Princeton University in Political Science where he was also a Captain of the Men’s Swimming Team. He has competed in the United States Swimming Olympic Trials and spent his childhood in Indonesia and Hong Kong.

Kieran McKenna - Partner, Mastic Investment Management; Former Senior Trader, Glencore
Kieran McKenna is recognised by peers as one of the most profitable options traders in the energy space. Through his 19 year career, Mr McKenna has worked at some of the world’s premier investment institutions. Mr McKenna spent 7 years at Goldman Sachs trading crude swaps, futures and options. He also worked at Deutsche Bank, J.P Morgan, Citadel and the Credit Suisse – Glencore Trading Alliance, where he was the Global Head of Oil & Refined Products Trading with a team of 17 traders reporting into him from New York, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Zurich. He launched his own hedge fund, Mastic, which returned 21% in its maiden year, well above the peer group.

In all of these previous roles, Mr McKenna demonstrated a strong ability to turn around underperforming oil trading desks, and talent for building and managing world class trading operations. He has also been a mentor and developer of talent to many of the top traders currently in the space. He currently spends time between London and Corfu.

He has advised on leading Capital Markets and M&A transactions and also has expertise in wide variety of sectors, including finance, industrials, retail, telecommunications, energy, etc. M&A deals include the acquisition of 100% of DZI from KBC Group, Magyar Telekom sale of Orbitel, the acquisition of Plovdiv BT, and many more. Previously, Veselin was Head of Corporate Finance of KBC Securities from 2009 to 2013.

Prior to that, he worked as Head of Corporate Finance at Sofia International Securities, a leading equity house. Vesselin was also Executive Director at Balkan Capital Markets (Asset Management Company) and he holds a MSc degree in Economics from the Economic University in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Michael Liebreich - Founder & Chairman, Bloomberg New Energy Finance
Michael Liebreich is Chairman of the Advisory Board of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, the world’s leading provider of research for senior decision-makers in clean energy and transportation. He is also a Board Member of Transport for London, the capital’s transport authority, a member of the high-level advisory board of the UN’s Sustainable Energy for All initiative and holds a variety of other directory and advisory positions in business and the non-profit sector. Michael is a Visiting Professor at the Imperial College Energy Futures Lab.

Prior to founding New Energy Finance, Liebreich was an Olympic skier, consultant at McKinsey and Co., venture capitalist at Groupe Arnault and a media executive at APTN and SNTV. He holds a first class honours in Engineering from Cambridge University, winning the Ricardo Prize for Thermodynamics and the Christ's College Wyatt Prize for Engineering. In 1988, he was awarded a Harkness Fellowship by the Commonwealth Fund of New York for his studies at Harvard Business School, where he graduated as a Baker Scholar.

John Ardill is an ExxonMobil Vice President for Business Development. He has over 20 years upstream oil and gas experience with ExxonMobil including Exploration, Development, Production, Research, Ventures and Corporate.

During these years Dr. Ardill held such positions as a Kurdistan Exploration Manager, Senior Upstream Advisor and Strategic Planning Coordinator for Exploration, New Business Manager for GCC countries and Geoscience Supervisor for Equatorial Guinea. Dr. Ardill holds BSc in Geology from the University of Edinburgh and PhD in Geology from the University of Liverpool.

Tim Whyte - Head of the Resource Investment Division, Sapinda; Former Senior Portfolio Manager, Brevan Howard Asset Management
Tim Whyte is a Managing Director and Head of the Resource Investment Division of SAPINDA Group. Mr. Whyte started his career trading commodities in 1995 at Goldman Sachs in London before joining Enron in 1999 to trade energy. In 2003 he joined Sofaer Capital Global Research as a Senior Research Analyst and trader for the Sofaer Global Equity Hedge Fund.

In 2005 Tim Whyte founded and ran the Sofaer Capital Natural Resources Fund with over 1bn US$ assets under management. In 2008 Tim joined Brevan Howard Asset Management, the largest Hedge fund firm in Europe. Mr. Whyte holds BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics.

Chris Walton - Non-Executive Board Director, Kazmunaygas
Chris Walton is the Chair of the Strategy & Innovation Committee of NC KazMunayGas (NC KMG), a vertically integrated oil & gas company which operates in every major segment of the oil and gas industry. NC KMG has JVs in some of the world’s largest oil fields, with refineries, pipeline, shipping and oil & gas marketing businesses. It has a turnover of US$ 18 billion, assets of $41 billion and employs 84,400 staff.

In the public sector, he is a non-executive member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport, which is responsible for the “digital economy” (broadband, cyber security etc), broadcasting (BBC, Channel 4, digital media, mobile telephone spectrum allocation), museums, sport, tourism and gambling. It was the department with responsibility for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

In the not-for-profit sector, he is the Audit Chair of the UK Institute of Directors (IoD).

In the recent past, he has stepped down as Chairman of Goldenport Holdings Inc (a listed shipping company with a world-wide container and dry-bulk shipping fleet); as Chairman of Lothian Buses Plc (the operator of 730 buses in Edinburgh and the Lothians); and as Senior Independent Director and Audit Chair of Rockhopper Exploration Plc (an AIM listed offshore oil explorer).

He has served two terms as Audit Chairman on the Board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the Kazakhstan State Government railway. KTZ is the 19th largest rail network in the world, with subsidiaries operating 11 regional airports, a sea port, telecommunications, locomotive assembley and wagon manufacturing businesses.

He has also been the Chairman of Asia Resource Minerals Plc, a London listed operator of large open cut coal mines in Indonesia.

In an advisory role, he is a non-executive member of the Unified Commission which acts on behalf of the sovereign wealth fund of Kazakhstan to appoint external auditors to the Sovereign Wealth Fund itself and for its 4 largest companies: Kazmunaigaz (oil & gas); KEGOC (electricity generation); Kaztomprom (nuclear fuels); and Kazakhtelecom (telecommunications).

Chris also consults on company turn-arounds and private equity investments, with past engagements in Europe, the Middle East and India. He has undertaken advisory work in conjunction with Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Otus.

Telefonica O2 and LoveFilm have used Chris as a mentor for senior executives.

As an executive, Chris was Finance Director and CFO of EasyJet Plc from 1999 to 2005, where he successfully directed its IPO. In 2002, EasyJet won the BT Vision 100 Award for a Visionary Top Team. It also won Air Finance Journal’s European Corporate Finance Deal of the Year award. In 2005, AirFinance Journal conferred Chris a “Lifetime Achievement Award” in aviation.

In earlier roles, he held senior finance and commercial posts at Qantas Airways, Air New Zealand, Australia Post and Australian Airlines. He has also worked for BP Australia, the Australian Senate, Rio Tinto Hamersley Iron and the Western Australian Government. He was a member of the Bank of England’s Regional Economic Advisory Panel (South East England & Anglia) from 2002 to 2005.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and is a Freeman of the City of London.

He served for ten years in the Australian Army Reserve, principally in the 1st Commando Regiment, and holds private pilot’s licences in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Chris, aged 58, lives in London with his family and holds both Australian and British nationalities.

Mr. Andrew Moorfield serves as Head of Energy at Exotix Limited. Previously, Mr. Moorfield served as the Head of Oil and Gas at the firm. He was a Managing Director and Head of The Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets of Lloyds Banking Group plc. He served as Managing Director of Debt Capital Markets of Lloyds Tsb Group Plc. since July 2006. He was responsible for marketing the bank's extended debt capital markets business to global corporate clients.

Mr. Moorfield served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Bank of America's European General Industrial Group where he was responsible for the aerospace and defence and basic materials sectors.

Jarred Glansbeek Mr. Jarred Glansbeek serves as Chief Executive Officer of RisCura Solutions (Pty) Ltd. Mr. Glansbeek consults to some of the largest institutional Funds in Africa. He has a wealth of experience and skill in the asset management and retirement industries, which is now directed at ensuring RisCura’s institutional clients receive the best efforts and service from all their service providers. Prior to founding RisCura, He was an Executive Director at FirstRand responsible for their asset management companies’ quantitative services. He developed substantial experience in quantitative portfolio techniques and complex instruments as well as judgmental and active risk management. In 1999, after becoming disillusioned with the state of the consulting market in South Africa, He set up Mercury Risk Managers, which became RisCura after a management buyout in 2000.
